Lost Horizon’s name was inspired by James Hilton’s 1933 novel “Lost Horizon,” which introduced the mythical paradise of Shangri-La – a hidden place of peace, love, purpose, and renewal.
In the book, the movie, and real life, Lost Horizon is where people come to reconnect, rediscover what matters, and find their own little piece of utopia.
It’s also where the movie COFFEE CUPS & WINE GLASSES filmed 60% of the comedy.

Overlooking Claytor Lake on 15 private acres, LOST HORIZON is a secluded mountain retreat where summer days are warm, evenings are cool, and every season brings a new view. Relax on the 1,100-square-foot wraparound deck, watch deer wander through the woods, gather fresh berries and herbs, or enjoy brilliant sunsets over the water.
Spend your days kayaking, canoeing, fishing from the dock, grilling by the lake, or roasting marshmallows around the waterfront firepit. Two canoes, two kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are provided. Enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing along the 55-mile adjacent New River Trail.

Sleeping up to eight guests, the cabin features cozy bedroom suites, a fully equipped kitchen, fireplaces, a claw-foot tub, a spacious steam shower, a bar with a wine cooler, a hot tub, and peaceful decks overlooking the lake, pond, gardens, & mountains.
